Erythrose
An aldotetrose that has been phosphorylated (ie,. erythrose 4-phosphate). This is an intermediate in the pentose phosphate pathway. Note. Do not confuse this term with the medical term "erythrose" which has the same spelling and means "a reddish or purplish discolouration of the skin and mucous membranes, seen in disease processes such as polycythaemia vera".
