Gums
Gums are complex polysaccharides produced by many plants and trees, particularly by those of the dryer regions of the planet. Gums are divided into four main types.
Plant exudates (gum arabic)
Seed extracts
Marine extracts (agar)
Fruit and vegetable extracts
Gums are used in confectionary (chewing gums), adhesives (ever step on a piece of chewing gum!), and many other products.
