As you may know, in most parts of 'Western World' there has been much news in regards to economic crisis, unemployment, and 'tough times' in general. Don't think for one moment that I haven't felt it either. Like many of you, I'm not a rich man, and I don't mind saying it. Life is tough. Perhaps it was designed to be this way, so that we learn something while we are here.

Whatever the case may be, I know one thing from my travels. When I used to pop my car on the ferry and cross the English Channel over to France, and then drive throughout Europe, I'd chat with people.

And I can tell you from personal experience, it's safe to say that greater than 90 percent of all people in the developed European Countries (EU) are struggling alone, not to mention in the US, where I lived for more than 20 years.

Enter, the so-called 'undeveloped world' - which i thought was fantastic, and with fantastic people as well. If we as developed countries are finding it hard to bounce back from recession, unemployment, etc., imagine how the 'other guys' are feeling.

I can speak for them in my travels, as I've been doing this while studying medicine for nearly 17 years - time flies.

Anyway, during my years living in the West Indies, I saw a bit of tough times as well. Although, the place looked like one of your 'archetype' holiday pamphlets, and the people were generally happy, there were some people struggling - In some respects, I preferred to be struggling in a Caribbean climate, where, when I wanted a nibble, I could just pluck a mango from a tree and be done with it.

My point is that much of the world is struggling in many ways - many are just too proud to admit it and just bravely try to plod on with a smile.

I'm not proud, and that's why I've created this page for you. Life can be tough enough on its own - when we mix disease into the equation, life becomes very tough for many. When individuals, friends, or families are trying to put money together in order to provide treatment for somebody we want to KNOW it works. And this why I've given you a little glimpse into my experiences. It's tough enough for a generally well-off community to give a little to help somebody obtain an experimental treatment. It makes me very upset to say the least, when I see a clinic take money from an individual who is from a 'less well-off' community for something they KNOW is NOT WORKING. 20,000, 30,000, 40,000 and up, US Dollars for a ;treatment;? This makes me very angry, as well as it does many other doctors.

I hear too many excuses from stem cell clinics at the moment - such as nothing is guaranteed.

Not true. When your appendix is inflamed, and it's removed, you're cured.

When you have a 'banging' headache and you take an opiate, it's almost always gone within a half an hour.

Many treatments work well in medicine.

Unfortunately, there are clinics popping up offering therapies that are NOT working.

At this point in time, NOT MANY OF THEM ARE BEING SUCCESSFULLY TREATED, AND I WILL ELABORATE UPON THIS IN EACH SECTION.

Although some of the conditions may not apply to you, I encourage you to read about them, not merely just to learn about them (although this is beneficial), but to broaden your knowledge on the successes and failures of stem cell therapy as this field slowly evolves.

We are all searching for answers, and I'm sorry that you see so much conflicting information out there.
